Al-Ahli Doha were founded in 1950 and have spent the bulk of their history in the English league system, moving between divisions as fortunes shifted before settling into their modern identity.

Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium has been the club's home for generations, and its matchdays remain the centre of the support — the terraces, the songs and the local rivalries that give the fixture list its weight.
